M. S. Subbalakshmi – Her Birthday
This day, the 16th September is the Birth anniversary of the legendary singer smt. M.S. Subbalakshmi. I wish to recall the fond memories of my contact with her, few years ago.
I was the convenor of T. Nagar Samithi. The anniversary of the Samithi is a big event every year. That particular year, I wished to invite Smt. M.S as a special guest for the occasion. The function was at Ayodhya Mandapam, in West Mambalam.
Sai Premi, Sri. Balakrishnan sir, and myself went to M.S. Subalakshmi’s home near Valluvar kotam in Kodambakam. She kindly agreed to come and inaugurate the function. She told us that Bhagavan Baba visited her and blessed them. While leaving Swami left behind His Chappals. Sri. Sadasivam and M.S. took the chappals to Swami who was getting into the car. Swami told them, that He had not forgotten, but l had left it behind as Prasadam. She said that since then she is worshipping the Padhuga with Sai Ashtothara Namavali.
Sri. Sadasivam and M.S arrived at Ayodhya Manadapam and were received with vedic Maryada. They lit the lamp as inauguration. The occasion was also the inauguration of West Mambalam Sai Samithi.
Sitting on the floor with other devotees, Smt. Subbalakshmi also sang couple of Sai Bhajans.
